Evaluator Certification Program

Once they've met the criteria, potential evaluators are put through a training program which includes learning about the mechanics of instruction, learning how to conduct an evaluation, observing evaluations, and practicing conducting evaluations.

The trained evaluators are then evaluated themselves. They take a written test on the mechanics of instruction and evaluation, and then they are given a hands on opportunity to demonstrate their abilities by evaluating an instructor. The potential evaluators must show not only that they have mastered the skills to make astute observations, but also that they can communicate those observations effectively and compassionately to the instructor they evaluated.

Evaluator Selection

Candidates to become Certified Instructor Evaluators are carefully screened to ensure a high quality standard is maintained. To enter the CIE Training Program the candidate must be sponsored by an IEI partner and satisfy the following minimum prerequisites:

  • Have seven years experience educating others in group situations (K-12 teacher, higher learning educator, professional organization or corporation trainer)
  • Have a Masters Degree or professional certification (MSCE, CISSP, etc)
  • Have five years experience in training and/or supervising other adult professionals
  • Have five years experience in providing written job performance evaluations

Candidates must submit at least two letters of recommendation, one of which must be from their supervisor in their instructor position. The candidates are then interviewed for selection into the program.
